This is a good workout.
This exercise uses the extended minor chord that can built from the Dorian mode. Going up you play the Root, b3rd, 5th, b7th…then going down you play the Root, 13th, 11th, 9th….It can also be looked at as 2 minor 7th chords a whole step apart.
Another real benefit is that playing this slowly and cleanly in every key will really improve your technique!

This exercise plays the 8 note scale ascending with an extra 9th note at the top which then sets you up to play the next scale of the set ascending beginning every 2 measures.
There 3 different diminished scale sets with which can played as either half-step/whole-step ascending or whole-step/half-step. This exercise is based on the half-step/whole-step configuration.
Within each of these 3 sets there are 4 scales starting a minor 3rd apart.
I find this is a great way to run through these and get them under my fingers,
