This is a good workout.
This exercise uses the extended minor chord that can built from the Dorian mode. Going up you play the Root, b3rd, 5th, b7th…then going down you play the Root, 13th, 11th, 9th….It can also be looked at as 2 minor 7th chords a whole step apart.
Another real benefit is that playing this slowly and cleanly in every key will really improve your technique!
